The Bavarian restaurant Augustiner am Dom is the third well-known Bavarian restaurant located within located within 30 meters at central Munich Frauenplatz Square, the other two are Nürnberger Bratwurst Glöckl am Dom and the Andechser am Dom restaurants. The Augustiner am Dom puts emphasis on cooking with local and regional ingredients whenever possible and calls this concept “Natur Pur” (Pure Nature).
Natur Pur at the Augustiner am Dom means offering regional products of top quality in an unadulterated and time-honored fashion. All meals are served fresh and homemade daily. Chef Erwin Reusch uses products from the region, such as fresh brown trout from nearby Aumühle in the Isar valley and ducks from the Lugederhof farm. He also serves up Augustiner’s own grainy mustard and Schmutzer's fiery red roast sausages. The appropriate beer to accompany these dishes is, of course, Augustiner (the locals favourite brand) lager or dark ale fresh from the wooden barrel (after 5pm).
The menu includes Würzburg Whiskey meat loaf from the grill with mountain cheese, the unique Schmutzer´s nature pure Schnitzel as well as a number of dishes from the Bavarian ox – the local premium beef. In addition, the chefs create delicious meals with organically raised lamb from the Paradieswinkel at Lake Wörthsee.
Prices at the restaurant are above Munich average because of the location and the popularity with locals and tourists alike, but from noon until 4pm there is a changing daily menu priced at some €10, so we recommend the restaurant for a break at that time if you are touring the city and pausing at the cathedral.
