The City of Munich is set to place 17 art-decorated pianos throughout the city. The pianos will be free to use for anybody, from skilled piano players to absolute beginners from September 1 – 18, the City announced today via its official website at muenchen.de and at a press conference held at the Airport Munich by Munich’s Deputy mayor Josef Schmid. One of the 17 pianos which are part of the “Play Me I’m Yours” branded initiative to promote music and spontaneous get-togethers will be placed within the airport.

“Play Me I’m Yours” is organised by Isarlust, the Urbanauts, the "Music with children München e.V." and the Chamber of Trade Munich and Upper Bavaria. All 17 of the pianos are of different design. The Bavarian capital has been part of the worldwide “Play Me I’, Yours” street piano movement since 2011.

Touring internationally since 2008, Play Me, I’m Yours is an artwork by artist Luke Jerram. More than 1500 pianos have now been installed in over 50 cities across the globe, from Paris to Lima, bearing the simple invitation: Play Me, I’m Yours. The project has already reached more than ten million people worldwide.

Munich Artists Collectiv, curated by Isarlust e.V. and Musik mit Kindern München e.V. in cooperation with die urbanauten and Chamber of Crafts for Munich and Oberbayern presents Play Me, I’m Yours from 1-18 September 2016. 17 street pianos, decorated by local artists and community groups, will be located in parks, squares and other public spaces across Munich for everyone to play and enjoy.
